Crew
My name is Vlad and together with Irina we are the people behind Chira Cruising. We're a cruising couple trying to share our experience with like minded people. Our cruising story started out many years ago, but on land, while backpacking in asia, living our "digital nomads" dream. Having traveled all over the world, I knew in the back of my mind that I want to do that endlesly, this trip confirmed that for Irina too. We quickly decided the only way forward is to live on a boat. So, we returned to Bucharest and put the plan in motion. I began trainig to become a sailor, going for months at a time on training expeditions, got certified, racked up the miles, until finally I just had to buy a sailboat and go do it.
Now we have a home on Chira and want to share that home with you.
The Boat
SV Chira
Chira is a 44 foot Jeanneau Sun Odyssey owners version built in 1991. She has 3 double cabins, 2 heads, 1 separate shower stall and a fully equipped and stocked kitchen. She can sleep 6 to 8 people comfortably. Fast and safe boat, traditional in design, furling main and genoa, Yanmar 55hp engine, bowthruster, dinghy with engine. Well built out of solid, kevlar reinforced fiberglass, with great layout and many amenities. We can also provide larger boats or catamarans to accomodate your needs
Our Services
So if you want to see for yourself what the cruising life is all about, or you're a novice sailor who wants to put some miles under his belt, or a salty sailor that wants his friends and family to have first contact with sailing in a relaxed, no pressure setting and learn about the practical aspects of day to day boat life, or have any other reason you can think of to be on a sailboat... just let us know. We'll set it up together. We can go over every aspect in detail, or just give us some pointers and we'll take care of the rest, it's up to you. You decide how long you want to stay, where you want to go and what type of sailing you're looking to do during that time. You can come by yourself or bring up to 8 people, join a mixed crew or just hang out with us. We provide the boat and the local knowledge to make whatever you dreamed up come true.

The cruising lifestyle experience
you get to join us on SV Chira and see for yourself what being a full time cruiser is all about. you become part of the crew and learn about sailboat maintenance, passage planing, cooking on board, weather routing, paperwork, the actual costs of full time cruising in greece and of course build up some miles as skipper in charge of a boat.
Miles buliding
this option is only available when we are planning long passages, you need to follow us on social media or subscribe to the email list so we can let you know when this opportunity comes up. you need to be allready familliar with sailing, but want to get some non stop passage experience under your belt.
Introductory sailing courses (practice and theory)
designed for people who want to learn about sailboats and sailing in general, and have little to no experience. it's a blend between a sailing holiday and a "competent crew" training course. no pressure to follow a strict schedule, but time is set aside to learn the basics of navigation, sailing, boat handling, ropework and so on. a great way to visit some awesome places and get confident about being on the water.
Team buildings
being part of a sailing crew is by definition becoming part of a team. people that sail together have rely on each other in order for the boat to reach it's destination safely. this is an easy way for a group of colleagues to become friends and be able to trust one another decisions. we provide multiple boats and skippers, so you can take your team on an fully catered sailing experience. this is a custom package that we tailor to your specific needs (number of boats, type of boat, additional accomodation on land, meals, various tours and experiences along the way, transportation to and from the boats...) all the while considering costs and the "bang for buck" factor
Custom holliday packages
booking the all three double cabins gives you total control of the itinerary and schedule. you decide where you go, when you go and for how long. you want to sail intensively or just go island hopping, eat out every night or barbecue in a secluded bay? either way I will guide you to the best beaches, tavernas and sights along our route, the way only a "local" can.
